A new era is beginning in electricity bills. Starting from January 1, 2026, a regulation will come into effect that will closely affect approximately 51 million subscribers.
THERE WILL BE NO GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR THOSE EXCEEDING THE NEW LIMIT IN ELECTRICITY
According to the regulation, the tier limit for annual electricity consumption has been reduced from 5,000 kilowatt-hours to 4,000 kilowatt-hours. Subscribers consuming more than an average of 333 kilowatt-hours (approximately 984 lira) per month will reach the upper limit. Bills will be issued based on actual costs without government support.
THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS
While the regulation concerns approximately 2.5 million subscribers, certain situations will be considered exceptions. Those in villages and rural areas with multiple households can apply to the Ministry of Family and Social Services to benefit from government support.
ATTENTION FOR THOSE WITH ELECTRIC CARS
The regulation particularly concerns citizens who charge their electric vehicles at home. These individuals are likely to exceed the limit and will not be able to benefit from electricity support.
