WHAT IS GENERAL HEALTH INSURANCE?

General Health Insurance (GHI) ensures access to health services in Turkey and aims to cover the health expenses of individuals without any social security. Citizens who pay premiums under GHI can benefit from medical examinations, treatments, medications, and similar health services. The application operates with a premium system determined according to income and is managed by the Social Security Institution (SGK).

With the payment of the GHI premium, the individuals whom the insured is responsible for can also benefit from health services. If the per capita income in the household is below one-third of the gross minimum wage, the GHI premium is covered by the state.
