A new regulation has been introduced in the Farmer Registration System Regulation. With this change, farmers who produce on publicly owned lands will be able to apply with a "commitment letter" in the absence of a lease agreement. Farmers applying for public lands with a "commitment letter" will be required to present a lease agreement in order to benefit from agricultural support.
The "Regulation on Amendments to the Farmer Registration System" prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has been published in the Official Gazette.
MANDATORY FOR THOSE WISHING TO BENEFIT FROM SUPPORT
According to the information provided by the Ministry, with the amendment, farmers producing on publicly owned lands will be able to apply with a "commitment letter" in the absence of a lease agreement. Farmers applying for public lands with a "commitment letter" will need to present a lease agreement in order to benefit from agricultural supports.
CHANGE REQUESTS WILL BE EVALUATED BY THE DETERMINATION COMMISSION
Farmers will be able to request product changes outside the specified period as well. These requests can be evaluated by the determination commission until the end of the production year. If there is a discrepancy in the production information identified by the Ministry, corrections may be made ex officio. Applications for changes regarding the irrigation status of the land can be made until June 30 each year. Requests made after this date can also be evaluated by the determination commission until the end of the production year.
APPLICATIONS WILL START TOMORROW
In lease termination procedures, if there is a product on the land, the lease agreement will expire as of the harvest date of the product. Applications for the 2026 production year Farmer Registration System (FRS) will start tomorrow and will end on December 31. The regulation will come into effect tomorrow.
