The Presidency's Directorate of Communications made a statement regarding Erdoğan's meeting with President Xi during his visit to the People's Republic of China for the 25th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Accordingly, in the meeting where the economic cooperation between the two countries was thoroughly evaluated, President Erdoğan stated that bilateral trade should be supported by investments to ensure it is balanced and sustainable, emphasizing that the potential in the fields of digital technologies, energy, health, and tourism is significant, and that increasing coordination for Chinese companies to invest in Turkey would be beneficial.
President Erdoğan noted the importance of taking joint steps to harmonize the Middle Corridor with the Belt and Road Initiative.
It was agreed to operate the existing consultation and cooperation mechanisms between the two countries at regular intervals.
President Erdoğan reiterated Turkey's support for the "One China" policy and drew attention to the strategic dimension of relations between the two countries.
Additionally, the recent situation in Gaza, the war between Ukraine and Russia, potential joint steps for the development of Syria, and regional and global issues were discussed in the meeting.
ERDOĞAN ACCEPTED THE PAKISTANI PRIME MINISTER
After his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Erdoğan received Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
In the meeting, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, and MIT President İbrahim Kalın were also present.
TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THE MEETING
In the meeting, the relations between the two countries, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed. President Erdoğan expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations between Turkey and Pakistan, and appreciated the solidarity on this matter.
Erdoğan also stated that Israel wants to expand its genocide policy in Gaza and that they will continue to work in coordination with Pakistan against this.
Erdoğan emphasized that the territorial integrity of Syria is indispensable for Turkey and that they stand against any actions aimed at destabilizing Syria.
