A bankruptcy decision has been issued for two companies affiliated with Bursa-based 46-year-old mattress giant Mavi Ay Yatak. While Ada Yatak Baza and King Protrade Tekstil, whose concordat requests were rejected, were ruled bankrupt, the other two companies in the group were exempted from the bankruptcy ruling.
The concordat process conducted for two companies within Mavi Ay Yatak, one of Turkey’s well-established mattress manufacturers, ended with a bankruptcy ruling. After approximately one year of evaluations, the Bursa 1st Commercial Court of First Instance ruled for the bankruptcy of Ada Yatak Baza A.Ş. and King Protrade Tekstil Ltd. Şti.
THE CONCORDAT PROCESS LASTED ONE YEAR
Mavi Ay Yatak and the group-affiliated companies, which applied for a concordat in October 2025 due to financial difficulties, were granted a three-month temporary respite by the court, and restrictions were imposed on transfers of movable and immovable assets.
In the final review of the concordat file, the court rejected the requests and initiated bankruptcy proceedings under the simple liquidation procedure for Ada Yatak Baza Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and King Protrade Tekstil Konfeksiyon Sanayi ve Dış Ticaret Ltd. Şti.
TWO COMPANIES WERE EXEMPTED FROM THE BANKRUPTCY RULING
The concordat requests of Beyrut Mühendislik A.Ş. and Turkuaz Yatak Baza Ltd. Şti., which were included in the same case, were also rejected. However, the court did not issue a bankruptcy ruling for these two companies on the grounds that the necessary conditions under Article 292 of the Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law were not met.
IT WAS AN AWARD-WINNING BRAND EXPORTING TO EUROPE
Founded in 1980 and known as Turkey’s first zippered mattress cover manufacturer, Mavi Ay Yatak had a 46-year commercial history. The Bursa-based company was known not only for its success across Turkey but also for its exports to European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. In past years, the company was honored with Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry awards and the SME and Entrepreneurship Award.
