In Şanlıurfa, Mehmet Kurt (43), detained in the investigation into the death of Emine Kurt (39), a mother of four, confessed to strangling his wife and then staging the incident to appear as a suicide.

It emerged that the woman found hanging from the iron railings of a window in Şanlıurfa was killed and hung by her husband.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the Şıh Maksut neighborhood of the Eyyübiye district in Şanlıurfa. Allegedly, relatives of Emine K. (41), a mother of four, who could not reach her, went to her home. When no one opened the door, they looked inside through the window and saw the woman hanging from the iron railings. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams arriving at the scene entered and, during their inspection, determined that the woman had lost her life.

CONFESSED HIS CRIME

Teams from the Şanlıurfa Provincial Police Department Homicide Bureau, who examined the house, found drag marks in the hallway. Her husband Mehmet K., who was taken into custody, confessed to strangling his wife in the room, then dragging her and hanging her from the iron railings to stage a suicide. Stating that he argued with his wife, Mehmet K. said that after sending the children elsewhere, he strangled his wife in the room and then dragged her and hung her from the iron railings with a rope.

In his statement, Mehmet Kurt said, "I was constantly arguing with my wife about work matters. We had problems between us because I couldn't meet her demands. On the day of the incident, I got angry and grabbed her by the throat. When I saw she was motionless, I panicked and tried to make it look like she committed suicide. I am very sorry for what I did." Mehmet Kurt was arrested after processing. Meanwhile, Emine Kurt's body was laid to rest after the autopsy completed at the Forensic Medicine Institute.

The suspect, taken into custody, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station.
