A landlord in Samsun resorted to an unusual method to protest against his tenant, whom he claimed he hadn't been able to reach for 4 months and who hadn't paid rent. The retired citizen, alleging he is owed approximately 76,000 TL, went to the grave of the tenant's deceased father to explain his grievance and stated that he has initiated legal proceedings.

Retired Süleyman Demircan (55) rented his apartment in Samsun to H.D., who introduced himself as a hospital official. H.D. moved into the apartment on February 10, claiming he would live there with his mother S.D., but no rental contract was signed between the parties. According to the allegations, a dispute later arose between the landlord and the tenant, and H.D. went to Istanbul and stopped answering phone calls. Following this, Demircan initiated enforcement proceedings for the rent, dues, and heating costs for the period from February 10 to June 10, and also filed an eviction lawsuit in court.

UNABLE TO COLLECT RENT FOR 4 MONTHS, HE WENT TO HIS FATHER'S GRAVE

Stating that he could not communicate with the other party, Demircan visited the grave of the late M.D., father of H.D. and husband of S.D., in the Devgeriş neighborhood of Canik district. After clearing the weeds around the grave and praying, Demircan told the deceased about his grievances and said he morally complained about his son and wife for consuming the rights of others.

"AFTER ENFORCEMENT PROCEEDINGS, I FILED AN EVICTION LAWSUIT"

Making statements in front of the cemetery, Demircan said, "I rented my house on February 10 to a person named H.D. He told a relative of ours that he was appointed as an official at a hospital in Samsun, that he currently had courses, and after the courses ended, he would live with his mother S.D. He moved into the house on February 10, and the rent actively started. Despite our repeated requests, he did not sign a contract. After the second week of March, I learned from his sister that he went to Istanbul. Since no contract was made, we sent the first official enforcement document on April 20. The first warning letter was sent on April 30, and the second on June 8. Legal procedures were followed consecutively. On June 17, I filed an eviction lawsuit at the Samsun 3rd Enforcement Law Court. He is not answering phone calls," he said.

"I COMPLAINED ABOUT MY TENANTS TO THEIR DECEASED ELDERS AT THE CEMETERY"

Stating that he went to the cemetery to complain to the deceased elders when he could not reach his tenants, Süleyman Demircan said, "During this process, my financial loss totals 76,000 TL, including 64,000 TL from rents between February 10 and June 10, 8,875 TL in dues, and 3,400 TL in heating costs. I trust our state. I want my receivables. I came to his father's grave. I complained about his son and wife to his late father. I entrust my tenants, the son and his wife, first to God, and then to the deceased father," he stated.

Demircan added that he trusts the state and justice and is confident that his receivables will be collected.
