As a result of the coordinated efforts of the MIT Presidency and the General Directorate of Security, Cengiz Sertel, one of the perpetrators of the attacks that took place in Reyhanlı, Hatay in 2013, was captured.

In coordination with the National Intelligence Organization and the General Directorate of Security; in the operations carried out by the Hatay Police Department, Cengiz Sertel, one of the perpetrators of the attacks that occurred in Reyhanlı, Hatay on May 11, 2013, was captured.

Sertel is known as the person who transported the explosives used in the attack from Syria into the country.

In the explosions that occurred in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay on May 11, 2013, 53 people lost their lives, and 146 others were injured.

In the case related to the attacks, where 33 people were prosecuted, a verdict was reached on February 23, 2018; nine defendants, including Nasır Eskiocak, who was accused of being the perpetrator and planner of the attack, were sentenced to 53 times aggravated life imprisonment, and 13 defendants received prison sentences ranging from 15 to 22 years.
