Journalist Oya Lale Arslan has been arrested as part of an investigation citing broadcasts and posts on social media and YouTube. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation was being conducted against Arslan on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “making terrorist organization propaganda.”
SOCIAL MEDIA AND YOUTUBE POSTS CITED AS GROUNDS
In a written statement from the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that an investigation was initiated against journalist Oya Lale Arslan due to her broadcasts and posts on social media and YouTube.
It was reported that Arslan faces accusations of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “making terrorist organization propaganda” under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.
SEARCH CONDUCTED AT HER HOME, DIGITAL MATERIALS SEIZED
Following the instruction of the Chief Prosecutor's Office, a search was carried out at Arslan's residence after she was taken into custody. It was reported that some digital materials were seized during the search.
PEACE CRIMINAL COURT JUDGE ORDERED ARREST
After custody procedures, Arslan was brought to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and following the completion of her procedures there, she was referred to the peace criminal court judge.
Arslan was arrested by the judge before whom she appeared and sent to prison.
In the statement from the Chief Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that the investigation against Oya Lale Arslan continues.
