Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced! Operation targeting 221 people worth 70 billion liras

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that a heavy blow was struck against cybercrime, illegal betting, and fraud networks in operations centered in Istanbul and Nevşehir, covering a total of 55 provinces. A total of 221 suspects were targeted in the operations, with an approximate transaction volume of 70 billion lira identified in the investigations. While seizure and receivership procedures have been initiated for numerous assets, Gürlek emphasized that the fight against crime and crime proceeds will continue decisively.

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that two major operations centered in Istanbul and Nevşehir dealt a heavy blow to cybercrime, illegal gambling, and fraud networks. A total of 221 suspects were targeted in the operations, with a transaction volume of approximately 70 billion lira detected.

SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS IN 55 PROVINCES

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek stated in a post on his social media account that the fight against crime and crime proceeds continues resolutely under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.

Gürlek expressed that two separate operations centered in Istanbul and Nevşehir dealt a major blow to criminal organizations targeting citizens.

OPERATION AGAINST 114 SUSPECTS

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Branch Directorate, simultaneous operations were carried out in 27 provinces.

In the operation, 114 suspects were targeted, and it was determined that 269 victims suffered a total loss of 600 million lira. A transaction volume of approximately 60 billion lira was identified in the accounts of the suspects.

Within the scope of the investigation, confiscation and trusteeship procedures were initiated for billions of lira worth of assets believed to be proceeds of crime.

BLOW TO ILLEGAL GAMBLING RING

In the second operation coordinated by the Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an illegal virtual gambling organization was targeted.

Simultaneous raids were carried out at 120 separate addresses in 28 provinces targeting the network, which was identified as using citizens' bank and cryptocurrency accounts. Actions were taken against 107 suspects in the operation.

Investigations revealed that the organization had reached a money volume of approximately 10 billion lira.

"WE DEALT A MAJOR BLOW TO CRIME FOCI"

Commenting on the operations, Gürlek said, "As of this morning, we have dealt a major blow to crime foci that have their eyes on the rights of our citizens and the public."

Gürlek also congratulated the Istanbul Anatolian and Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, which conducted the investigations, and the police units that carried out the operations.

Emphasizing that the fight against cybercrimes, illegal gambling, and fraud activities will continue resolutely, Gürlek stated that judicial and administrative mechanisms will continue to work uncompromisingly against criminal organizations.
