In the Suşehri district of Sivas, 56-year-old shepherd Anıl Algül, who was grazing sheep, was attacked by a bear hiding in the terrain. Kangal dogs protecting the herd saved the shepherd, who was severely injured, from death by fighting the bear. After initial intervention, the injured shepherd was transported by an ambulance helicopter dispatched to the area to the university hospital.
In the Suşehri district of Sivas, 56-year-old shepherd Anıl Algül, who was grazing his animals, was attacked by a bear hidden in the grass. The shepherd, seriously injured in various parts of his body, was saved by the loyal Sivas Kangal dogs accompanying the herd. Algül, who survived thanks to the dogs that fought the bear and pulled him from the brink of death, was transported to the hospital by ambulance helicopter.
The incident occurred today around 14:30 in the rural area of Şarköy village, Suşehri district. According to information obtained, Anıl Algül, who was grazing his flock of sheep in the field, came face to face with a bear lying in the grass that he had not noticed. The giant bear, suddenly leaping from its spot, attacked the unfortunate shepherd.
KANGAL DOGS PREVENTED TRAGEDY
The Kangal dogs in the flock rushed to the shepherd's cries as he was covered in blood from the bear's claw and bite strikes. The Kangals, fearlessly attacking the bear, drove the wild animal away and saved the shepherd's life. While the bear fled the area and disappeared, health and gendarmerie teams were quickly dispatched to the scene following a report from nearby people.
TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE HELICOPTER
The injured shepherd was first taken from the field to Suşehri State Hospital by ambulance. Following initial treatment, deep wounds were detected on his body, and to avoid losing time, an ambulance helicopter from the Ministry of Health was requested. Algül, boarded onto the helicopter that landed in the district, was transferred to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty Hospital for further examination and treatment.
It was reported that the injured shepherd's treatment is ongoing, while gendarmerie teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
