The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that King Mohammed VI has accepted the invitation to join the "Peace Council," established as an important part of the second phase of the ceasefire process in Gaza, by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump had also invited President Erdoğan to be a founding member of the "Peace Council," responsible for the reconstruction and security of Gaza.
A written statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that King Mohammed VI accepted the invitation to participate as a founding member of the Peace Board, which President Trump plans to launch as an initiative aimed at contributing to peace efforts in the Middle East and adopting a new approach to resolving conflicts around the world.
"WE WILL STICK TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE OF PALESTINE"
The statement noted that Morocco will work to approve the founding charter of the Peace Board, reiterating that Morocco is committed to a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the Middle East and the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, which will live peacefully alongside Israel, based on the 1967 borders. The statement expressed that King Mohammed VI praised President Trump's determination and vision for advancing peace.
PEACE BOARD ESTABLISHED FOR GAZA
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) decided to support the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict announced by President Donald Trump on September 29, 2025, with its resolution dated November 17, 2025, and numbered 2803. According to diplomatic sources, the new structure includes three main bodies: the "Peace Board," the "Peace Board Management Committee," and the "Gaza Management Board."
In this context, the Peace Board, chaired by Trump, was established, and Trump invited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a founding member of the "Peace Board," responsible for the reconstruction and security of Gaza. Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced on January 14 that the second phase of the 20-item Gaza plan had been initiated.
