The forest fire that broke out in the Serik district of Antalya was brought under control before it spread to residential areas. Approximately 2 hectares of land and olive trees were damaged in the fire. The fire was extinguished with the efforts of teams and citizens.
A fire broke out in the forested area of Deligöz location in Sarıabalı Neighborhood, which is part of Serik district in Antalya, around 19:30 in the evening. Upon notification, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality dispatched the Serik District Fire Department team and water tankers belonging to the Forest Management Directorate to the area. An elderly couple living in a nearby house was evacuated as a precaution during the efforts of the teams to control the fire.
2 HECTARES OF LAND DAMAGED
The forest fire that broke out in Serik district of Antalya was brought under control without spreading to residential areas, thanks to the intervention of teams and citizens. Approximately 2 hectares of land were damaged in the fire. The gendarmerie, teams from the Forest Management Directorate, and fire crews from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality intervened in the fire, while local residents supported the efforts with hoses they pulled from their homes. As the flames approached residential areas, two residences near the forested area were evacuated as a precaution.
As a result of the intense efforts of the teams, the fire was brought under control without spreading to nearby houses. It was learned that approximately 2 hectares of land, including olive trees, were damaged in the fire. Cooling efforts in the area are ongoing.
DISTRICT GOVERNOR ŞAHİN: A GREAT EFFORT WAS MADE
Serik District Governor Dr. Cemal Şahin stated in a press release regarding the fire, "According to the information I received, the fire has generally been brought under control. Cooling efforts will continue from now on. It appears that more than 2 hectares of land have been damaged in the fire. The friends made a great effort. Even though we are not in the fire season right now, the teams intervened very well," he said.
Yusuf Küçükdeligöz, one of the local residents, said, "Currently, there is no damage to the houses. The fire got a little closer to the houses; hopefully, nothing will happen. There have been fires here in previous years as well. I wish us all well."
