SHOT IN THE LEGS WITH A SHOTGUN
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the Yüksel Apartment on Bestekâr Street in the Şirinevler neighborhood. Murat K., who lives on the top floor of the five-story building and was reported to be under the influence of alcohol, argued with his daughter's boyfriend Berk H. (23) who came to his door late at night. As the argument escalated, Murat K. fired the shotgun he had at the young man's legs. Injured in the leg, Berk H. fled the apartment with his girlfriend Eylül K. in a panic. At that moment, Murat K. began firing randomly out of his window. The gunfire caused a brief panic in the neighborhood, and many police teams were dispatched to the area upon notification.
SOUGHT REFUGE IN A BUILDING AND WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
The injured Berk H. sought refuge in a building located in a back street. Veterinarian Ahmet Okan Güneş, who heard the gunshots and came outside, provided first aid to the injured young man until the medical teams arrived. Veterinarian Güneş stated that he applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and kept the injured area clean. After the medical teams arrived at the scene, Berk H. was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
"HE LEANED AGAINST MY DOOR"
Police teams took security measures in the area while wearing bulletproof vests. Upon calls made, Murat K. announced that he would surrender by throwing the cartridges from the shotgun into the apartment garden. The suspect was taken into custody by the Public Order Branch teams along with the weapon used in the crime. While being escorted to the police vehicle, Murat K. drew attention with his statement, "I didn't shoot at the police. He came and leaned against my door. I called the police, and when they didn't come, I shot him."
While the suspect was taken to the Public Order Branch for questioning, it was learned that Berk H., who was injured in the leg, was being treated at Karabük Training and Research Hospital.
