Koç Holding company Otokar has completed another important step in the process of acquiring Romania-based Automecanica S.A. The company announced that official approval from the Romanian Competition Authority has been received for the acquisition.
Otokar, which made a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), reported a positive development in the necessary permit process regarding the share transfer transaction announced to the public on April 29, 2026.
OFFICIAL APPROVAL FROM THE COMPETITION AUTHORITY
In the statement made by the company, it was stated that the Romanian Competition Authority approved the transaction for the acquisition of Automecanica S.A's shares.
The statement also indicated that work continues to complete the other closing conditions in the Share Purchase Agreement. It was noted that new developments regarding the process will be shared with the public.
ACQUISITION WORTH 85 MILLION EUROS
As part of the process initiated in January, Otokar signed a contract on April 29, 2026, for the purchase of shares representing 96.77% of Automecanica S.A's capital for approximately 85 million Euros. This acquisition aims to establish Otokar's military production infrastructure within the borders of the European Union.
COBRA II VEHICLES BEGAN MISSION IN ROMANIA
Previously, Otokar won the tender opened by the Romanian Ministry of National Defense and completed the delivery of the first COBRA II vehicles produced in Turkey. More than 270 vehicles delivered by the company began active duty in Romania in recent months.
