In the 2025 Income Tax record holders list announced by the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB), the top spot was shared by the Bayraktar brothers and Rahmi Koç, while lawyer Gönenç Gürkaynak, who ranked 23rd with a tax assessment of 285.2 million TL, drew attention. In a statement on social media, Gürkaynak said, 'Despite the extravagance in our country, I leave it to you to interpret how paying $7 million in taxes makes one a record holder, and that I, as a lawyer, have become a tax record holder.'
According to data from the Presidency of Revenue Administration (GİB), the top income taxpayer in Turkey for 2025 was Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Baykar, with an assessed tax amount of 2 billion 991 million TL from export revenues. In second place was Haluk Bayraktar, General Manager of Baykar, with 2 billion 502 million TL, and in third place was Mustafa Rahmi Koç, Honorary Chairman of Koç Holding, with 830.7 million TL.
THE 23RD NAME DREW ATTENTION
One of the most striking names on the tax champions list was Lawyer Gönenç Gürkaynak, who ranked 23rd with an assessed tax amount of 285 million 236 thousand 270 TL from legal consultancy and representation activities.

Following the announcement of the list, Gürkaynak made a resentful post on his social media account, drawing attention to tax justice and the economic picture in Turkey, using the following statements: "I have become one of the income tax champions across Turkey. Despite all the ostentation in our country, I leave the comment to you about becoming a champion by paying 7 million USD in taxes and being a tax champion across Turkey as a lawyer. I happily fulfill my civic duty."
