Details of the narcotics operation in which Denizli Bar Association President Ufuk Kök and 11 lawyers were detained were chilling. While cannabis was seized at President Kök's home, it was revealed that the suspect lawyers grew cannabis in the bathroom of their law office and dried the harvested drugs on hangers in a wardrobe.
Shocking details have emerged regarding the drug operation in Denizli that sent shockwaves through the judiciary, where Bar Association President Ufuk Kök and 11 lawyers were detained. During searches conducted by gendarmerie teams in luxury law offices, it was determined that the lawyers were growing cannabis in the office bathroom and drying the harvested poison by hanging it on hangers in a wardrobe.
"DRUG PARTY AT HOME AND OFFICE" REPORT
The Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a confidential investigation following a report that Bar Association President Ufuk Kök and 11 lawyers were using and supplying narcotics, and sharing these substances with their close circles at home and office environments. After months of surveillance, early this morning, teams from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Narcotics Crime Branch conducted simultaneous dawn raids on 21 addresses, including the Denizli Bar Association building.
CANNABIS ALSO FOUND AT THE BAR PRESIDENT'S HOME
In the operation, Bar Association President Ufuk Kök along with lawyers E.E., V.S.B., M.O.A., O.S.O., Y.K., K.O., O.F.S., C.S., F.K., B.T., and E.B. were handcuffed and detained on charges of "drug use and providing premises." During searches with narcotic dogs, 0.3 grams of cannabis were seized from the residence of Bar President Ufuk Kök himself. At the addresses of other suspects in the investigation, a mini drug lab was virtually discovered. Seized items included 50 grams of cannabis, 57 synthetic pills, 200 grams of cannabis seeds, 2 cannabis grinders, 2 cannabis plants, drug paraphernalia, an unlicensed shotgun, and various climate control materials used for drug cultivation.
NOT A LAW OFFICE, BUT A DRUG GREENHOUSE
Images recorded by gendarmerie teams at a law office became the most striking detail of the operation. It was determined that the lawyers, who are supposed to uphold the law, had turned the bathroom of the law office into a greenhouse with special setups for growing cannabis. Additionally, it was caught red-handed that the drugs grown and harvested in the bathroom were left to dry by hanging on hangers like clothes in a wardrobe inside the office. The detained Bar President Kök and 11 lawyers were taken to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command under heavy security for testimony procedures. The investigation into the incident continues in multiple directions.
