A large-scale search and rescue operation has been launched in the region after the female climber, who separated from the group due to adverse weather conditions during the summit climb of Mount Ararat, was reported missing. Teams are continuing their efforts under difficult terrain and heavy snowfall to reach the climber, who is believed to be lost at an altitude of 4,700 meters.

The race against time has begun for the female climber who got lost during the ascent of Mount Ararat, the highest peak in Turkey. Under adverse weather conditions, AFAD, UMKE, and gendarmerie teams are conducting extensive search and rescue operations to reach the climber who separated from the group.

BLIZZARD HIT ON THE WAY TO THE SUMMIT

A group of five climbers began their ascent to reach the summit of Mount Ararat, which stands at 5,137 meters. However, the intense blizzard affecting the area made it difficult for the team to progress.

SEPARATED FROM THE GROUP AT 4,700 METERS

The female climber S.H. decided to turn back and separated from the group at an altitude of 4,700 meters around noon. The other four climbers descended to the campsite at 3,900 meters in the evening without reaching the summit.

NOTICED SHE DID NOT REACH THE CAMP

When the group reached the campsite, they realized that S.H. was not there. Upon this, the situation was immediately reported to the 112 Emergency Health teams.

Following the report, AFAD, UMKE, and gendarmerie teams initiated search and rescue operations in the area. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the teams continue their efforts both on the ground and from the air to reach the missing climber.

To support the search efforts, the Provincial Special Administration teams are conducting snow removal operations on the roads leading to Mount Ararat.

The Turkish Red Crescent Doğubayazıt Branch teams are also providing food support to the teams operating in the region.
