French President Emmanuel Macron responded to a question regarding the mention of his name in new documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, who has been in the news due to a sexual abuse case in the U.S., with a single sentence without entering into public debates. Macron stated that the relevant party in this matter is the U.S. judiciary and that the case should be clarified by the judiciary.

French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the mention of his name in new documents related to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while facing charges of sexual abuse and establishing a prostitution network in the U.S., saying, "The U.S. justice system must do its job." Macron emphasized that clarifying the case is of great importance, especially for the victims.

"THE TRUTH MUST BE REVEALED"

While answering journalists' questions during his visit to the Wine Paris exhibition, Macron made evaluations regarding the Epstein documents. Pointing to the U.S. judiciary, Macron stated, "The justice system must do its job, that's it."

Stating that he is thinking of Epstein's victims, Macron said that the case primarily concerns the U.S., but the truth must definitely be revealed.

REQUEST FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMMISSION IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

France's National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet approached the request for the establishment of an inquiry commission in the assembly regarding the Epstein documents with caution. In a statement to Europe 1, Braun-Pivet argued that the parliament should not be in a position to "race" with the ongoing judicial process.

Braun-Pivet expressed that the correct address for revealing the facts is the justice system.

CALL FOR AN INQUIRY COMMISSION FROM LFI

The leftist France Unbowed (LFI) Party requested the establishment of an inquiry commission in the assembly, citing the mention of former ministers and Macron's name in the newly released Epstein documents. The party argues that the presence of many figures from the political and artistic world in the files necessitates enlightening the public.

MACRON'S NAME IN THE EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS

The released documents show that Macron's name appears in various correspondences before and after he was elected president in 2017. The files contain allegations that Epstein sought Macron's opinions on many issues, including institutions, policies, and science.

An email from Epstein dated August 30, 2018, highlights Macron's statements that he wanted to "lead Europe, and perhaps the world."
