Four suspects, two of whom are minors, were detained for placing and detonating a handmade bomb with a timer at the corner of the street where their rivals live in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul. It was learned that the suspects prepared the bomb by watching videos on the internet, and the moment of the explosion was captured by security cameras. The four suspects who were detained were arrested and sent to prison.
An incredible event took place in Gaziosmanpaşa. Four people, including two children, made a timed bomb by watching a 'bomb making' video on the internet. The children were caught on camera detonating the bomb in front of the house of someone they had a feud with.
A BIG EXPLOSION OCCURRED
On January 27, a large explosion occurred at the intersection of Destegül Street and Yeni Street in Bağlarbaşı Neighborhood. Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion, but a fire broke out afterward. The fire was extinguished with the intervention of nearby citizens.
MOTHER AND CHILD ESCAPED INJURY BY CHANCE
The Public Order Branch, Robbery Bureau, and Gaziosmanpaşa District Police Department teams launched an investigation into the incident. The investigation revealed that the explosion was caused by a homemade timed bomb. Police accessed security camera footage of the moment of the explosion. The footage showed a person quickly fleeing the scene after leaving the bomb at the corner of the street. In the security camera footage, a mother and her child were seen walking unknowingly towards the corner of the street where the bomb was located, narrowly escaping injury by a few meters.
400 HOURS OF SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE REVIEWED
In the operation initiated by the police, the suspects were tracked using security camera footage. It was determined that the suspects, who fled the scene on foot, continued to escape by changing vehicles after a while. The police identified that the suspects attempted to escape by changing vehicles four times after reviewing approximately 400 hours of security camera footage.
FOUR SUSPECTS ARRESTED, ONE OF THEM 14 YEARS OLD
The Robbery Bureau teams conducted an operation to capture the suspects whose identities they had determined. In operations carried out in Gaziosmanpaşa and Beykoz districts, the suspects H.Ö. (43), E.A. (41), and two minors, 14-year-old S.Y.T. and 17-year-old A.B., were taken into custody.
During the interrogation at the Public Order Branch, it was determined that the suspects learned how to make bombs from videos they watched on the internet. It was revealed that 14-year-old S.Y.T. had 11 previous criminal records and was wanted in a case. The 14-year-old suspect was found to have photos taken with a gun alongside a friend.
THEY WERE ARRESTED
After completing their procedures at the police station, S.Y.T. and A.B. were referred to the Juvenile Branch, while H.Ö. and E.A. were referred to the Public Order Branch for court proceedings. All four suspects were arrested and sent to prison.
