Emergency procedures were activated at Bursa Yunuseli Airport following a report that the landing gear of a two-seater aircraft had not deployed. Firefighting and medical teams were put on alert, and it was learned that the pilot could not see the three green lights indicating the landing gear was down, leading them to request an emergency landing under the assumption the wheels were not deployed. The aircraft landed safely under control and was towed to a hangar. No injuries occurred in the incident.
Upon a report that the wheels of a two-seater aircraft flying in the skies of Bursa had not deployed, the emergency procedure was activated at Yunuseli Airport, and fire, health, and security teams were put on alert.
THOUGHT THE WHEELS HAD NOT DEPLOYED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SEE 3 GREEN LIGHTS
The aircraft made an emergency landing under tower control. Afterwards, it was safely towed to the hangar. It was reported that the pilot, who was alone in the aircraft, was not injured. It was learned that due to a sensor malfunction in the aircraft, the pilot could not see the 3 green lights indicating the landing gear, and therefore thought the wheels had not deployed and requested an emergency landing. When the tower intervened, it was determined that the wheels had deployed, and the aircraft made a controlled landing on the runway.
NO DISRUPTION IN AIR TRAFFIC
Although there was brief activity at the airport following the incident, there was no disruption in air traffic. The rapid response after the report set a critical example for aviation safety.
