A new development has occurred in the investigation against Menderes Mayor İlkay Çiçek in İzmir. Çiçek, who was being investigated for 6 separate crimes including bribery, extortion, abuse of office, and forgery of official documents, and for whom an arrest warrant was issued, has been suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry announced that the decision was taken as a temporary measure.
Izmir Menderes Mayor Ilkay Cicek was suspended from duty as a temporary measure by the Ministry of Interior following his arrest within the scope of the investigation conducted against him.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was stated that an investigation was initiated against Cicek within the scope of file number 2026/59016 of the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "Misconduct, Extortion, Bribery, Forgery of Official Documents, Forming an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes, and Causing Zoning Pollution."
SUSPENDED FROM DUTY FOLLOWING ARREST DECISION
According to the statement, after the arrest measure was imposed on Cicek by the Izmir 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace, the Ministry of Interior took action.
The Ministry decided to suspend Cicek from duty as a temporary measure under Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

INVESTIGATION ON 6 SEPARATE CHARGES AGAINST HIM
Within the scope of the investigation conducted against Menderes Mayor Ilkay Cicek, he faces accusations of misconduct, extortion, bribery, forgery of official documents, forming an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, and causing zoning pollution.
While announcing the suspension decision to the public, the Ministry concluded its statement with the words "Respectfully announced to the public."
