Çankaya Municipality Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, who was detained at Esenboğa Airport as part of an investigation into bribery and bid rigging against the Çankaya Municipality, made his first statement on his X account. Güner said, 'I have done nothing to be ashamed of in front of you. My conscience is clear, my forehead is clean, my head is erect.' Thanking those who supported him, Güner stated that he would be together with the people of Çankaya again as soon as possible.
An operation was conducted at the Çankaya Municipality within the scope of an investigation coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the crimes of "establishing a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "accepting and giving bribes," and "rigging a tender."
Within the scope of the investigation, Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, who was reportedly on vacation abroad while the NATO Summit was ongoing, was detained at Esenboğa Airport upon his return to Turkey.
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR SOME INDIVIDUALS
During the operation, many suspects, including Çankaya Deputy Mayor Mesut Akıncı, Çankaya Municipal Council Member Ahmet Ağırman, and Ankara Metropolitan Municipal Council Second Deputy Speaker Emre Doğan, were detained, while arrest warrants were issued for some individuals.

Sharing a post on his X account after being detained, Hüseyin Can Güner used the following statements: "Dear Neighbors, I wish you all a happy Sunday. In this process we are going through, there is only one thing I want you to know: I have done nothing that would shame you. My conscience is clear, my forehead is clean, and my head is high.
I have had no purpose other than serving Çankaya and you. I read your messages, prayers, and good wishes. Your support gives me strength. I am glad you exist. We will continue to be together soon in the streets, parks, and neighborhoods of Çankaya. With love and solidarity..."

WHO IS HÜSEYİN CAN GÜNER?
Born in Ankara in 1993. He is a lawyer. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 2015.
He registered with the Republican People's Party in 2012. He carried out activities in the Ankara Provincial Youth Branch University Commission, the Social Democratic Students organization, and the Çankaya District Youth Branch.
He served as the President of the Etimesgut Youth Branch in 2013-2014. Between 2014 and 2016, he worked in the Central Headquarters Local Governments Commission.
He served as the Deputy Head of the CHP Çankaya District between 2018 and 2020. Between 2020 and 2023, he was a member of the Çankaya District Election Board representing CHP.
He became a candidate for the 11th rank deputy for Ankara's 1st District in the May 14, 2023 General Parliamentary Elections. He was elected as a member of the CHP Party Assembly at the 38th Ordinary Congress held on November 4-5, 2023.
He served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Second Century Magazine and as a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Turkish Tennis Federation. He is a member of the Social Democracy Association and the Social Democratic Lawyers Association.
