Fenerbahçe Vice President Barış Göktürk stated after the Gornik Zabrze match that the yellow-navy blues' goal is to advance by winning both matches. Göktürk also said transfer efforts are progressing as planned and new players will join the team on time.
Following Fenerbahçe's draw against Polish representative Gornik Zabrze in the UEFA Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round, Vice President Barış Göktürk made statements.
Speaking to HT Spor, Göktürk stated his belief that the yellow-navy team would advance past the round, saying, "There are no easy matches in the Champions League, but there are no difficult draws for Fenerbahçe either. We trust our team. We believe we will advance to the next round. Hopefully, we want to continue our path by winning both matches."
"THE IDENTITY OF THE OPPONENT DOES NOT MATTER"
Emphasizing that Fenerbahçe's goal is to advance past the round regardless of the opponent, Göktürk said, "It doesn't matter to us. The identity of the team does not matter. As Fenerbahçe, we are obliged to overcome every opponent. We believe the next round awaits us."
TRANSFER MESSAGE
Speaking about transfer efforts, Göktürk stated that they are waiting for the situation of some players to become clear due to the World Cup. The yellow-navy executive said, "In line with the instructions given by our president earlier, we will form the main backbone of the team after the transfer period begins. I think we will be ready before the first match."
"THERE IS NO DELAY"
Stating that there has been no delay in transfers, Göktürk said, "The transfer period begins on June 22. Therefore, our transfer period will also start on that date. There is no delay. Our transfers will be completed."
STRIKER EMPHASIS
Stating that efforts to strengthen the squad are ongoing, Göktürk noted that planning, especially regarding the offensive line, continues. Saying that Fenerbahçe has a strong squad, Göktürk evaluated, "With the right squad planning, we want to take Fenerbahçe further both in the league and in the Champions League."
