The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated that they will continue to fight against unregistered economy, saying, "What will be in favor of our taxpayers is that they correct their revenues before we arrive."

Minister Mehmet Şimşek answered questions from journalists regarding Turkey's economic moves during a live broadcast on TV100. He made striking statements and provided important messages regarding the fight against unregistered economy.

HE ADDRESSED BUSINESSES: CORRECT IT BEFORE WE ARRIVE

Stating that "Last year, the Parliament passed a law and gave us the opportunity to determine revenues," Mehmet Şimşek said, "Teams will go to establishments suspected of unregistered activities and will stay there from morning until evening to determine all revenues. According to the law, we will now go to different establishments 12 times a year on different days and months to determine revenues, and then we will notify the business and ask for an explanation. What will be in favor of our taxpayers is that they correct their revenues before we arrive."

MONITORING WAS TIGHTENED WITH THE NEW LAW

With the law passed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly last year, the fight against the unregistered economy was strengthened, and penalties were increased. With the regulation, more than 4,000 tax inspectors began to work in the field throughout the year, while deterrent administrative fines are imposed on those who use someone else's IBAN or POS device.
