Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced the details of the new model planned to be implemented in the social assistance system. With the Income Complementary Family Support System (GETAD), it is aimed to bring social supports under a single roof and to guarantee a minimum income level by creating a family-oriented structure.

With the statements of Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, the details of a radical structural transformation in Turkey's social assistance system have been revealed. With the new model, which aims to protect citizens' purchasing power during the fight against inflation and make state support more efficient, all social assistance is being gathered under a single center named the Income Completing Family Support System (GETAD).

MINIMUM INCOME GUARANTEE WILL BE PROVIDED

Stating that the economic program implemented according to Türkiye newspaper has begun to yield results, Minister Şimşek said they aim to distribute the created increase in welfare fairly to all segments of society. In line with this goal, a significant momentum is being achieved in the share allocated to social support from the budget. This rate, which was 1.3 percent in 2002, is projected to reach 4.8 percent by 2026. Through the GETAD project to be implemented, a family-oriented, much more inclusive structure will be built, and ensuring a minimum income level for every individual will be placed under state guarantee.

NEW SYSTEM IS COMING

Evaluation processes are being completely renewed to ensure that state supports reach directly and only those who are truly in need. Traditional methods of determining destitution are being replaced by the Social Economic Risk Information System (SERBİS), which will analyze the socioeconomic status of individuals and households with a detailed scoring logic. This new system will assess the risk and need situations of applicant families much more precisely with modern, artificial intelligence-supported infrastructures. Additionally, a Monitoring Center will be established to increase the quality of field studies. Through this center, physical visits to be made by experts to households deemed eligible for assistance will be planned from a single screen, ensuring the entire process is managed in a highly transparent and auditable manner.

TRANSPARENT DIGITAL TRACKING

The GETAD model, which is currently in the simulation and testing phase by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, is planned to be rapidly made available to citizens after the relevant legal regulations pass through the parliament. The new system focuses not only on consolidating social assistance under a single authority but also on its digitalization in line with the requirements of the age. Through an infrastructure to be integrated into the Integrated Social Assistance Information System, citizens will have the convenience of instantly tracking the support amounts they are entitled to, their Family Card information, and past spending details via their mobile phones through a new mobile application to be developed.
