The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, responded to the claims made by the CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding his involvement in the MASAK report prepared for the investigations concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). Minister Şimşek stated that no one other than the prosecutor's office has knowledge of or can intervene in the reports.
The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, responded via his social media account to the criticisms directed at him by CHP leader Özgür Özel regarding MASAK.
"THERE CAN BE NO INTERVENTION"
Minister Şimşek stated that the MASAK reports requested by the prosecutor's office are reported directly to the prosecutor's office, and that no one outside the prosecutor's office has knowledge of or can intervene in the reports. He emphasized, "In response to the accusations of the leader of the main opposition party, it has become necessary to make a statement regarding the functioning of state institutions. In a rally held today in Maltepe, CHP leader Özel referred to the MASAK report prepared regarding the investigations into İBB, stating, "In just three days, we lost a total of 25 billion dollars together. This 25 billion dollar cost is not being taken on by him; he is shifting it onto you. He has already started by raising prices for gasoline and diesel. While Mehmet Şimşek appears to be a democrat in the world, he is also a part of this coup. With the coup report he had prepared for MASAK, Mehmet Şimşek has become a partner in this coup, a part of that junta. All economic circles in the world have seen that Mehmet Şimşek is not a democrat, nor an economist who manages the country with rational policies, but rather a gunslinger under the command of an autocrat, a hitman for an autocrat. Mehmet Şimşek has neither a reputation nor anything to contribute to this country from now on," he said.
