The question was raised about MHP leader Bahçeli's support for Özgür Özel's call to broadcast the trials against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) on TRT. Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç responded by giving the green light for the trials to be aired on TRT, stating, "If a consensus is reached, the decision is up to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM)."
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç spoke about the proposal to broadcast live the trials of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on TRT. Recently, Tunç gave the green light for the call, which was also supported by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli.
BAHÇELİ GAVE SUPPORT
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had supported the call made by CHP leader Özgür Özel for the live broadcasting of the trials in which Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is also being tried. He explained his reasoning by saying, "We hope and wish that this expectation is evaluated as reasonable and legitimate, and that the white sheep and the black sheep are exposed in the court of public opinion. The Turkish nation should see the truths. They should know the realities."
DREW ATTENTION TO THE LEGAL ARTICLE
This development was asked to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç today. Tunç drew attention to the relevant legal article, stating, "In order for the trial to be broadcast live, there is a restriction in Article 183 of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding taking photographs and videos. If there is a consensus, if the legislation changes, it is up to the discretion of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. But in the meantime, Mr. Bahçeli's sensitivity is that 'The public should see what the white sheep and the black sheep are. They should see what crimes these individuals have committed or not committed.'
