Brazilian National Football Team head coach Carlo Ancelotti has been sentenced to one year in prison and fined 386,000 euros for tax evasion.
The head coach of the Brazil National Football Team, Carlo Ancelotti, has been sentenced to one year in prison for tax evasion.
1 YEAR PRISON AND FINE
According to Spain's official news agency EFE, Ancelotti was sentenced to 12 months in prison for tax evasion during his time managing Real Madrid in 2014. Ancelotti was also fined 386,000 euros.
During the hearings held on April 2 and 3 at the Madrid District Court, Ancelotti argued that he never considered defrauding the treasury. The 66-year-old coach requested his acquittal, stating that he followed the advice of the club and his consultants, and if found guilty, he asked for mitigating circumstances to be taken into account.
According to the decision of the Madrid District Court, the Italian coach was acquitted of a potential tax charge related to the collection of income from image rights in 2015.
