It was reported that the operation prevented the organization's potential action plans aimed at Turkey.
In an operation organized by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Ahmet Kazancı, who was stated to be one of the executives of the media structure of the Khorasan Province (ISKP) of ISIS, was captured. It was alleged that Kazancı managed the organization's propaganda activities and made plans for a new structure in Turkey.
OPERATION BY MIT AGAINST ISIS
The National Intelligence Organization carried out a significant operation within the scope of its studies targeting the Khorasan Province (ISKP) structure of the terrorist organization ISIS. Ahmet Kazancı, who was reported to have used the code names "Abu Ubeyde" and "Abu Ibrahim," was captured in the organized operation.
As a result of intelligence studies, it was determined that Kazancı traveled from Turkey to the Afghanistan-Pakistan area, joined the ranks of ISIS, and took active roles in the organization's camps.
DETERMINED TO HAVE HEADED THE MEDIA STRUCTURE
In the examinations conducted, it was determined that Kazancı carried out activities together with Özgür Altun, code-named "Abu Yasir Al Turki," the so-called Turkish media head of ISIS, who was previously captured in Pakistan and brought to Turkey.
MIT determined that, following the capture of Özgür Altun, Ahmet Kazancı took over his duties within the organization and assumed responsibility for ISIS's media and propaganda structure.
WAS PREPARING TO RETURN TO TURKEY
Intelligence units determined that Kazancı survived airstrikes targeting ISIS elements in Pakistan and received various training along the Afghanistan-Pakistan line.
In the studies conducted, information was obtained that Kazancı planned to illegally enter Turkey and continue his organizational activities. Upon this, MIT took action and captured the suspect in an operation organized in the border region.
DESCRIBED HIS ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES
It was learned that Ahmet Kazancı, in his statement, described his relationship with Özgür Altun, the armed and ideological training he received within ISIS, and the media and propaganda activities he conducted on behalf of the organization.
MIT sources reported that, thanks to the operation, possible action plans of ISIS targeting Turkey were prevented, the organization's recruitment activities were uncovered, and important information was obtained regarding the planned activities.
