The incident that occurred in Voronezh, Russia, shocked those who witnessed it. A 2-year-old child fell into an elevator shaft in front of his family's eyes. The father, who saw the moment, jumped after him without thinking and miraculously kept his son alive.
In the footage captured by the security camera, little Matvey is seen walking towards the elevator door while wearing his jacket. Suddenly, the door shifts, and the small child falls into the dark void. The panicking father, Aleksey, makes a move to grab his son but cannot reach him in time.
Without a moment's hesitation, the father jumped into the elevator shaft after his son. At that moment, the mother is seen illuminating the surroundings with a flashlight. Aleksey quickly reached his son and pushed him up into his mother's arms.
Little Matvey fell from a height of about 2 meters but, by chance, did not hit the metal rods in the elevator shaft. Hearing the screams, the residents of the building immediately stopped the elevator, preventing the father and son from being crushed.
After the incident, father Aleksey described the terrifying moments they experienced:
"We went to the hospital immediately; thank God my son is fine. He was just a little scared and has a few small bruises. But those moments were indescribable."
"I jumped after him without thinking. If the neighbors hadn't heard the sounds and rushed to help, the elevator could have come down and crushed us. My son miraculously survived."
The little boy is now at home and is reported to be in good condition.
While the Russian Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into the incident, father Aleksey expressed his frustration, stating that the elevators in the building are broken:
"The building was only completed a year ago, but the elevators have always been faulty. They hardly worked properly throughout the year. When they do work, they make noise and squeak. Such a thing shouldn't happen in a new building."
