Following the workers of the Metropolitan Municipality in İzmir, now 1,763 workers in Buca have decided to go on strike due to not receiving their salaries. As a result of the strike, piles of garbage have accumulated in the district.

The garbage piles and bad smell accumulated due to the strike of municipal workers in the Buca district of İzmir caused a reaction.

A total of 1,763 workers employed by the Buca Municipality decided to go on strike yesterday, citing that they had not received regular salaries and their accumulated debts had not been paid. Due to the failure to collect garbage after the strike, garbage piles formed in some streets. It was observed that the accumulated garbage spilled onto the sidewalks and roads.

Mustafa Hacıoğlu, one of the citizens reacting to the situation, stated that garbage had accumulated in many areas of the district. Hacıoğlu said, "If the garbage was not going to be collected, why are we paying the solid waste fee? Are we the ones who are suffering, or the workers? Isn't it a shame for the suffering we endure in this heat?"

Mehmet Ekin also drew attention to the accumulated garbage in the Healthy Living Park on Akdoğan Street, where he lives, saying, "Children are playing in this park, and there is currently a very ugly sight; we are disturbed. We respect the rights of the workers as well. We want an agreement to be reached between the municipality and the workers."
