In the investigation launched regarding allegations that "unregistered money was transferred to companies abroad" concerning former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İbrahim Melih Gökçek, journalist Murat Ağırel testified as a witness. Stating that he submitted all the information and documents he had to the prosecutor's office, Ağırel made striking claims regarding HAMAG, a company in Germany that he alleged was linked to the Gökçek family.
A new development has occurred in the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Melih Gökçek. Journalist Murat Ağırel was summoned to the Ankara Courthouse and gave a statement as a "witness."
HE SUBMITTED THE DOCUMENTS IN HIS POSSESSION TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The investigation is being carried out within the scope of claims that "unregistered funds were transferred to companies abroad" regarding Gökçek. Speaking before the Ankara Courthouse after his statement, Ağırel stated that he submitted the documents in his possession to the prosecutor's office, saying, "I had declared that I possessed the relevant documents and could deliver them to the prosecutor's office. Therefore, the prosecutor's office invited me to give my statement as a witness. I explained all the documents and information I had in detail."
STRIKING ALLEGATIONS REGARDING THE HAMAG COMPANY
Ağırel claimed that Melih Gökçek, his son Ahmet Gökçek, and his wife Hülya Gökçek established a company named "HAMAG" in Düsseldorf, Germany, and recounted his allegations regarding the company's financial structure. Ağırel said, "HAMAG is a company with zero turnover, zero employees, and a capital of 30,000 euros. In 2024, it suddenly acquires assets worth 3 million 800 thousand euros. After acquiring these assets, they consist of 15 apartments and two commercial units." According to the allegations conveyed by Ağırel, the company's real estate ventures in Germany were not limited to this.
"18 APARTMENTS AND FIVE COMMERCIAL UNITS"
Ağırel further alleged that an attempt was made for another property in the city of Velbert. The journalist said, "Later, it evolves into a shopping center with 18 apartments and five commercial units in the city of Velbert. That place was worth 8 million 700 thousand euros. A contract was made for this place twice. First, it was made in the name of Hülya Gökçek." Claiming that the contract was later renewed in the name of HAMAG, Ağırel alleged that the sale did not take place because the conditions could not be fulfilled.
ALLEGATION OF 180-200 MILLION EUROS IN LUXEMBOURG
One of the most striking allegations Ağırel said he conveyed to the prosecutor's office was the figure mentioned for a shopping center in Luxembourg. Ağırel said, "According to information I received from two people in Luxembourg, negotiations were underway for a shopping center for around 180-200 million euros. In the negotiations for this shopping center, an agreement could not be reached, and they gave up on buying it. I told all the news about the people involved in this."
"I BELIEVE A MUCH BIGGER EVENT WILL EMERGE"
Ağırel also stated that he thought the investigation could expand in the future. The journalist said, "I believe that at the end of this investigation, a much bigger event, a sequence of events, will emerge. The prosecutor's office is continuing its investigation into this."
