Müsavat Dervişoğlu to Kılıçdaroğlu: You are null and void for us

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, commenting on the process within CHP, stated, "Our stance against trusteeship that disregards the state, the nation, and sovereignty is uncompromising and clear. Both the appointer and the appointee are, in our view, absolutely void, defective, and null."

Good Party Leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu made striking assessments during his party's group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Stating that they have been carefully following the developments in the CHP from the very first day, Dervişoğlu said about Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who assumed the chairmanship by court decision, "For us, he is considered null and void."

"Our stance against trusteeship is uncompromising and clear," Dervişoğlu said. "We all know that the so-called resolution process, which is being sold to us as a state project, and the current election strategy are both part of the ruling power's calculation. While 90% of the nation opposes this process that recognizes terrorist convict Öcalan as an interlocutor, the fable of 'state wisdom' has been brought up, and these discourses have been maintained despite the people. The first trustee was appointed 10 years ago where it should be. That trustee also attempted to appoint terrorist convict Öcalan as a trustee over the Kurds. Now it is the turn of the Republican People's Party. Our stance against trusteeship, which disregards the state, the nation, and sovereignty, is uncompromising and clear. Both the appointer and the appointed are, in our view, absolutely void, defective, and null."

Highlights from Dervişoğlu's statements;

"We see that the current situation is not merely an internal matter of the CHP, but has been designed from the beginning as a step in a larger quest to shape politics in Turkey. Just as we do not dismiss the treacherous bargain made with İmralı by calling it 'peace' like the heedless and foolish, we also do not dismiss the forced entry into the CHP by breaking doors or the appointment of a trustee there as 'a judicial decision.' Because we know, we remember. The subjugation of the judiciary to politics, its submission to it, has always been the product of eras remembered with curses. And these decisions have left wounds on consciences and always sown seeds of discord among our nation. Let us not forget, the decisions made at Yassıada in 1960 were also judicial decisions. The wounds have not healed. The pens broken by the 1971 memorandum were also judicial decisions. The actions after 1980, the closed parties, imprisonments, trials, bans, dungeons—all were judicial decisions. And the scars of all the wounds they opened remain on our bodies and souls.

"THE PROBLEMS OF POLITICS ARE ON THE CITIZENS' BACKS"

We do not want a trustee republic. We do not want a tutelary democracy. We want the word of the nation to prevail, not that of a few judges, bureaucrats, or advisors who pledge allegiance to one person. We want a Turkey where politics is determined not by courts, but by the ballot box. We want a Republic, not a sultanate. What we need today is not new debates, new areas of problems, but trust in the nation's sagacity. Moreover, it is the nation's trust in politics. Which voter is satisfied with the current state of politics? Which politician is at peace? The citizens' troubles are not on politics' mind, but the problems of politics are on the citizens' backs. I ask: AK Party members, MHP members, deputies, provincial and district heads, delegates—do these events and what is being done not wound you at all, not cause you any pain? When you walk in the market, the bazaar, the streets, do you not see the anger of the nation in the faces you look at, in the eyes looking at you? No offense to anyone, but let everyone know that I will not remain silent against oppression. I will not be a mute devil in the face of injustice. I will not take evil precedents as examples. I will not defend myself by accusing others. I will not allow a coup against democracy either.

"THE RULE OF LAW IS NOT THE RIVAL OF DEMOCRACY, BUT ITS GUARANTEE"

Dervişoğlu said, "Those who try to design politics through court decisions, bans, and various anti-democratic interventions may achieve temporary successes, but they cannot obtain lasting results against the will of the nation. Trying to solve matters that the ballot box will resolve through other means only produces new crises for Turkey. The rule of law is not the rival of democracy, but its guarantee. The duty of law is not to shape political life, but to ensure that political life operates fairly, transparently, and within rules. We have been aware from the very beginning of this government's strategy with its old and new partners of 'Divide, fragment, and destroy' the Republic, the country, the nation, and politics. The government uses the authority given by the nation to divide, fragment, and destroy every organ it can intervene in, from public institutions and organizations to judicial authorities. It then swallows and consumes what remains. It first divides society into two, and then further separates all segments within themselves. Thus, it dares to appoint trustees here and there.

"FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE, IT IS NULL AND VOID"

We all know that the so-called resolution process, which is being fed to us as a state project, and the current election strategy are both part of the ruling power's calculation.
