The former president of the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), Nasuh Mahruki, was detained due to a post he made on social media regarding the Supreme Election Council; Mahruki was arrested on the grounds of insulting judicial authorities. In the post that led to his arrest, Mahruki stated that if the elections were to be digitized, the Chamber of Computer Engineers should be an observer, claiming that irregularities occurred in previous elections. DESTİCİ: IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHEAT IN ELECTIONS IN TURKEYFollowing Mahruki's arrest, the statements of Mustafa Destici, the General Chairman of the Great Unity Party, who answered questions from journalist Melis Yaşar and the General Editor of Haberler.com, Lawyer Bedia Teymur, on Haberler.com's YouTube channel recently came back to the agenda. In his statements, Destici emphasized that it is not possible to cheat in the election system in Turkey and stated that he did not find Mahruki's post to be correct. Destici, who said, "This is not an acceptable tweet," added, "The call is made by the Chamber of Computer Engineers. They want the chamber to be an observer in the tweet. The Supreme Election Council does not say it will do such a thing. The chamber is making such a call. It is not right to target the Supreme Election Council through this call and to declare all previous elections illegitimate. It is not fair either. Elections in Turkey are conducted very fairly and impartially. Cheating is not that easy. It has happened in some rural and small areas. But generally speaking, it is impossible to cheat in this system. There is a ballot box president, and there are election officials from five political parties, and all parties participating in the elections have their observers. There are 10-15 officials at a ballot box, and they are all from different parties. Looking at the last elections, opposition parties were present at more ballot boxes than the ruling party. If we rank the votes received by the parties, it is AK Party, CHP, MHP, IYI Party, and DEM Party. Three of these are already opposition, and three of the five people in the ballot committees are opposition. The majority is in the hands of the opposition at the ballot boxes. There are 35 parties participating in the elections. Here, the opposition is already in the majority. The number of parties in the People's Alliance is 6, while there are 29 opposition parties, all of which have the right to observe. How will the ruling party cheat? I do not find this tweet correct; I do not find it fair. A legal process should have been initiated, but whether the operation is right or wrong is also debatable," he stated.
