The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Begona Gomez, whose passport was temporarily confiscated because she is being prosecuted for four separate crimes, requested special permission for the NATO summit in Ankara.
According to reports in the Spanish press, the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Begona Gomez, requested special travel authorization for the NATO summit in Ankara.
It was reported that Gomez applied to the court through her lawyer to request permission to travel abroad on July 7-10, in order to accompany her husband Pedro Sanchez at the NATO Ankara Summit and to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony in London.
It was reminded that the spouses of leaders attending the NATO summit in Ankara were also officially invited.
THE FIRST LADY WHOSE PASSPORT WAS CONFISCATED
Begona Gomez, the first prime minister's spouse in Spanish history to have her passport confiscated, is accused of "influence peddling, business corruption, embezzlement, and abuse of office."
After Judge Juan Carlos Peinado decided to impose a precautionary measure due to "suspicion of fleeing the country," Begona Gomez left her passport with the court on June 24.
Begona Gomez most recently accompanied Prime Minister Sanchez on his trip to China two months ago.
