In a heartbreaking incident in Turkey, Salim Güran, the uncle who received a life sentence for the murder of his 8-year-old niece Narin Güran, spoke for the first time after his sentencing. In Erzurum Prison, Salim Güran stated, "The real perpetrator of my niece's murder is evident. I not only want to be acquitted, but I also want our blood not to go unavenged."

' I was sitting at home with my family. I was held responsible for the murder of my niece #Narin. They marked this dark stain on our foreheads. I am Salim GÜRAN...
My lawyer proved with all kinds of data that I was at home. He presented in court how much intense internet I used at what minute during the time of the murder. He detailed in court that Nevzat, the sole perpetrator of my niece, who we hadn't spoken to for 3 months, had hardly used the internet at the same time, as shown by the HTS records. He presented evidence that I paid a bill at the time of the murder. It was not enough; he wanted to reveal that there was mapping from my location data.
They imposed a monstrosity on us called a narrow base report to condemn our entire family. No matter how we hold the base report, it remains in our hands. Those who said I went to the stream and those who placed my base there did not know that we would prove with a voice recording on my phone that I was in the village.
"WE DEBUNKED THE SLANDER WITH THE STEP COUNTER"
Claiming that Nevzat's house was closer to Arif's, and therefore the base they imposed could not be interpreted against Nevzat, the court, which said he did not leave the path at 15:10, did not know that my house was much closer to my brother Arif? In the same base report, it was claimed that Nevzat left Arif's house at 15:35, right? So who will explain to me how we improved the images showing that Nevzat's vehicle was on the road 2 kilometers away at 15:34?
With the base report, we debunked the slander they threw at me, saying I went to the barn, went to the annex, or came home and left again, with the step counter on my phone.
The DNA issue, which they made a fuss about, claiming that DNA was found in vomit, which led to my arrest, was debunked in court with my lawyer, proving that Narin knew my vehicle while she was alive. My vehicle did not go to the lower road as Nevzat claimed.
"WILL THEY INSIST ON CONDEMNING US?"
By the way, why did those who made a show in court saying Narin's right is Narin's right never focus on the PSA issue? Why did they reject our requests on this matter?
While I was shown the movements of many suspicious vehicles, including mine, on that day in the village very clearly from the military base camera, isn't claiming that the cameras were deleted a clear intent? For example, they showed me my vehicle near the cornfield in the morning from the Dara 2 camera... How can I believe that Nevzat's vehicle was detected 19 days later from another camera? If Nevzat had been detected before me, would he have had any setup regarding me?
All the data we previously submitted to the court indicating that I was at home will soon be confirmed with a new report... Will they still insist on condemning us?
"THOSE WHO DO NOT RAISE THEIR VOICE WILL MEET THE SAME FATE"
In addition to all this, the efforts to improve the cameras make me very happy. Aside from the attempts to discredit this effort and work, I am fully confident that a good result will be achieved regarding our innocence. I am grateful to my lawyer and all those who contributed to this effort without any expectations.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Narin Güran went missing on August 21, 2024, and on the 19th day of the search efforts, her lifeless body was found in a stream bed in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district in Diyarbakır, inside a sack covered with stones.

Yüksel Güran (Mother), Enes Güran (Brother), and Salim Güran (Uncle) were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder of a child in participation." Nevzat Bahtiyar (Neighbor) received a 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence."
Regarding the murder of Narin Güran, 15 people, including 3 children, were charged with "aiding a criminal" and faced prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 5 years. The prepared indictments were accepted, and a case was opened.
