Nasdaq Closes At Record-High; Dow Ends 5-Week Winning Streak

Tech heavy Nasdaq posts 1.4% weekly increase.

The Nasdaq closed Friday with a record-high, while the Dow Jones ended its five-week winning streak.

The Dow was up just four points, or 0.01%, to finish the day at 39,069 but the blue-chip index fell 2.3% for the week.

The S&P 500 rose 36 points, or 0.7%, to end the session at 5,304 as the index posted a weekly gain of only 0.03%.

The Nasdaq, meanwhile, jumped 184 points, or 1.1%, to close at 16,920. The tech-heavy index saw a 1.4% weekly increase.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, dove 6.6% to 11.93. The 10-year US Treasury yield shed 0.4% to 4.457%.

The dollar index fell 0.35% to 104.74, while the euro rose 0.31% to $1.0846 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold adding 2.3% to $2,334 per ounce and silver increasing 0.75% to $30.35.

Oil prices were up around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $82.14 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $77.79. -
