Since last month, police in southern Turkey have seized nearly 40,000 cannabis roots in anti-drug operations, authorities said Thursday.
Provincial gendarmerie teams carried out 12 anti-drug operations in the city of Hatay between July 1 and Aug. 11, according to a statement by the provincial governor's office.
The forces seized 39,638 illegally cultivated cannabis roots, the office added.
