Nearly 40,000 Cannabis Roots Seized In Southern Turkey

Since July 1, Turkish security forces carried out 12 anti drug operations in region.

Since last month, police in southern Turkey have seized nearly 40,000 cannabis roots in anti-drug operations, authorities said Thursday.

Provincial gendarmerie teams carried out 12 anti-drug operations in the city of Hatay between July 1 and Aug. 11, according to a statement by the provincial governor's office.

The forces seized 39,638 illegally cultivated cannabis roots, the office added.
