Claims have resurfaced that a new district named "Yenişehir" will be established in Istanbul. It is suggested that the new district, which will encompass Arnavutköy and surrounding areas near Istanbul Airport, will consist of a total of 15 neighborhoods. While details remain unclear due to the lack of an official announcement, if the arrangement comes to fruition, the number of districts in Istanbul will increase from 39 to 40.
Discussions regarding the district reorganization in Istanbul have flared up again. It has been suggested that some residential areas located in the northern part of the city may be combined to form a new district called "Yenişehir." If the plans are implemented, the number of districts in Istanbul, currently 39, will rise to 40.
According to claims, the boundaries of the new district will be determined to encompass a wide area that includes Istanbul Airport. It is stated that some regions around Arnavutköy, Başakşehir, Bahçeşehir, and Hadımköy may be gathered under the new administrative structure.
IT MAY BE NAMED "YENİŞEHİR"
The rapidly increasing population in the region in recent years, the infrastructure projects developing around the airport, and the growing transportation opportunities are among the factors strengthening the idea of a new district. It is reported that the name "Yenişehir" has been frequently used in the preparation processes, and this name has emerged in the planning as well. In the event of the district's establishment, it is noted that administrative boundaries will be redrawn and some neighborhoods may be separated from existing districts and transferred to the new structure. The large area of the region and its development potential make the project noteworthy.
15 NEIGHBORHOODS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED
It is claimed that a total of 15 neighborhoods have been selected for the new district expected to be formed. Among the neighborhoods whose names have emerged in the first phase are Boyalık, Yassıören, Dursunköy, Sazlıbosna, Şamlar, Baklalı, Çilingir, and Hacımaşlı. It is stated that the remaining part of the list is included in the planning file but has not been shared without an official announcement.
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT YET
No official announcement has yet been made regarding the new district claim, which has attracted great public interest. With the announcement, it is expected that all details regarding the planning will become clear.
