The investigation into the murder of Narin Güran gained momentum following the statements of the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar. New DNA samples were taken from Bahtiyar's house and barn, while the Ministry of Interior sent a team of three experts based on claims that two individuals from the family and the village could become secret witnesses. Meanwhile, it was learned that 12 detained individuals from the Güran family are being held in special camera-equipped rooms in prison, and they are absolutely not allowed to communicate with each other until the investigation is completed.

The investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır, has been deepened. Following the release of a confessor from prison and the collection of additional statements, gendarmerie teams went to the village to conduct new DNA and forensic examinations at Bahtiyar's house and barn. It was determined that members of the Güran family, who were not allowed to communicate with each other while in prison, were kept in specially monitored rooms and that even family members outside were not permitted to visit.

EXPERT TEAM SENT TO DIYARBAKIR

It was learned that some individuals, both suspects and those whose information was sought, could provide testimony as secret witnesses within the scope of the investigation. In this regard, it was revealed that the Ministry of Interior sent a 3-person expert team responsible for the witness protection program to Diyarbakır.

In the investigation related to the murder of Narin Güran, whose body was found in a stream bed 2 kilometers away from the village on September 8, after going missing on August 21 in Tavşantepe Village, Bahtiyar's additional statement as a confessor led to an expansion of the investigation. In his new confession, Bahtiyar stated, "I saw the body lying on the ground. There was a foamy liquid coming from her mouth. After taking her from Salim, I first threw her inside through the barn window," prompting the gendarmerie crime scene investigation and JASAT teams to return to the village.

DNA SAMPLES TAKEN FROM THE HOUSE AND BARN

Due to the lack of safety for his family after testifying against the Güran family, a re-examination was conducted at the family’s vacated house and the adjacent barn. DNA evidence examination was conducted for possible fingerprints, nail clippings, blood, saliva, and hair samples belonging to uncle Salim, mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and Nevzat Bahtiyar, particularly around the window where he claimed to have "thrown the body into the barn." A meticulous examination was also carried out in the vacated house due to the possibility of similar samples being present. After a 2-hour examination, the JASAT team left the village with the samples they collected.

STRICT MEASURES FOR FAMILY MEMBERS IN PRISON

Except for Nevzat Bahtiyar, all 12 individuals, who are family members and relatives, are being held in specially monitored rooms at the T2 and T3 High-Security Closed Penal Institution, and they are not allowed to communicate with each other in any way until the investigation is completed. Similarly, it was learned that during visiting days, relatives and family members outside are also not permitted to visit the detainees in prison. Due to the possibility of altering testimonies to cover up evidence if they come together, it was revealed that the prison guards entering and exiting the family members' rooms for counts and meal needs were selected from designated permanent staff, and they were equipped with body cameras capable of recording audio during working hours to prevent any potential contact or information exchange with family members outside. It was stated that all connections of family members with each other and the outside world have been severed.

Due to safety concerns, it was reported that two individuals, who had previously provided statements as witnesses in the investigation, would be taken as secret witnesses because they possess direct eyewitness information that could unveil the mystery of the murder. Following this information, a 3-person expert team came from Ankara to Diyarbakır. It was determined that the expert team assigned by the Ministry of Interior was working to ensure the protection of the two individuals as secret witnesses. After meeting with the prosecutors conducting the investigation at the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the prison where the 12 individuals are detained, the experts returned to Ankara.

HE CHANGED HIS TESTIMONY FOR THE THIRD TIME

According to a report in Sözcü newspaper, Bahtiyar, who was brought to the courthouse after being released from prison and whose statement was taken by 3 prosecutors, changed his testimony for the third time, stating: "Salim called me to his brother Arif's house. All the doors were closed except for one room. Salim took me to one of the rooms on the left. I saw Narin lying motionless on the ground. There was a foamy liquid in her mouth. Salim told me, 'I killed this girl because I saw that I was with Yüksel. You are my accomplice. Since you witnessed the incident, you will dispose of the body. Otherwise, I will have your son shot in the head. Get rid of it, and then I will give you 200,000 lira.' We placed the body inside a blanket together. Salim handed the body to me, and I left the house with the body.

IF NECESSARY, DISMEMBER AND THROW IT IN THE STREAM

There were Narin's slippers in front of the door. At Salim's request, I took them and put them inside the blanket, then headed home to leave them in my vehicle. I first threw the body into my barn through the window. Then, I hurriedly covered the head of the body with a sack. I hadn't tied the sack. I handed the blanket to Salim, who came behind me in his vehicle. Salim said, 'If necessary, dismember the body and then throw it in the stream.' When I looked towards Arif's house, I saw Narin's mother Yüksel crying with her face in her hands. I took the body to the stream and hid it. One of Narin's feet was outside the sack. I couldn't tie it because I was in a hurry. A few days after the incident, I encountered Salim on the road. He greeted me with a wink. I don't know if Salim saw where I left the body. However, the Eğertutmaz stream can be seen from the high places of the village. Therefore, Salim may have followed me from behind and seen where I left the body. I definitely did not kill Narin."
