New appointments from President Erdogan in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir

A comprehensive rotation of duties has been carried out in the Ministry of Interior. With a Presidential Decree, the positions of 430 provincial and district administrators were reassigned, while numerous district governors and deputy governors in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir had their posts changed.

The appointment decree for civil administration officials, bearing the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was published in the Official Gazette.

With Presidential Decree No. 2026/148 dated June 17, the duty stations of a total of 430 civil administration officials serving in the central and provincial organizations of the Ministry of Interior were rearranged.

Within the scope of the decree, the duty stations of many district governors and deputy governors were changed, while various appointments and assignments were also carried out within the General Directorate of Personnel, the General Directorate of Provincial Administration, the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and the General Directorate of Information Technology of the Ministry of Interior.

NEW ASSIGNMENTS IN THE CAPITAL

With the decree, several individuals were appointed to the position of Ankara Deputy Governor.

Emir Osman Bulgurlu, District Governor of Çankırı Çerkeş; Adem Öztürk, District Governor of Bilecik Bozüyük; Gürkan Demirkale, District Governor of Trabzon Ortahisar; Turgay Hakan Bilgin, District Governor of Balıkesir Altıeylül; Hüseyin Çam, Deputy Governor of Nevşehir; and Nur Sevinç Özbek Çakas, Deputy Governor of Şanlıurfa, were appointed to the position of Ankara Deputy Governor.

APPOINTMENTS IN ISTANBUL ANNOUNCED

Within the scope of the decree, district governor changes were also made in some districts of Istanbul.

Uğur Bulut, District Governor of Denizli Pamukkale, was appointed to the Adalar District Governorship; Eren Arslan, District Governor of Bursa İnegöl, to the Ataşehir District Governorship; and Mehmet Akçay, District Governor of Ankara Keçiören, to the Maltepe District Governorship.

Meanwhile, Hasan Yaman, District Governor of Balıkesir Ayvalık, was appointed to the İzmir Bergama District Governorship, and Vural Karagül, District Governor of İzmir Tire, was appointed to the Muğla Milas District Governorship.

One of the notable arrangements in the decree concerned Önder Can, Deputy Governor of Uşak.

In the decision published in the Official Gazette, it was stated that the provision regarding Önder Can's appointment as Deputy Governor of Nevşehir, with Presidential Decree No. 2025/205 dated May 27, 2025, was annulled in line with a court ruling.

The decree came into effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

EVALUATION FROM INTERIOR MINISTER CIFTCI

Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci announced that the Civil Administration Officials Appointment Decree was published in the Official Gazette.

In a statement on his social media account, Ciftci said, "With the approval and discretion of our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Civil Administration Officials Appointment Decree of our Ministry of Interior has been published. The duty stations of a total of 430 Civil Administration Officials serving in our Ministry's central and provincial organizations, who have completed their service periods in their current positions or were evaluated based on their service and circumstances, have been redetermined based on merit, seniority, service requirements, and institutional needs."

Sharing the details of the appointments, Ciftci stated, "In this context, out of 15 Civil Administration Officials serving in the provincial organization, 11 were appointed as District Governors, and 4 as Deputy Governors to positions in the central organization." Ciftci added, "Furthermore, 208 of our Civil Administration Officials were appointed from District Governorship to District Governorship, 82 from District Governorship to Deputy Governorship, 74 from Deputy Governorship to Deputy Governorship, and 32 from Deputy Governorship to District Governorship. Additionally, the duty stations of 5 District Governors in Istanbul, 4 in Ankara, and 6 in Izmir were changed."

Ciftci also included the following statements in his announcement:

"Additionally, among the 13 Civil Administration Officials serving as trustees, including 6 in provinces and 7 in districts, 4 Civil Administration Officials serving as district trustees were appointed to positions appropriate to their requests and seniority, based on the successful services they rendered during their tenure; and senior and successful Civil Administration Officials were assigned in their places. On the path to building the Century of Turkey; I sincerely believe that our civil administration officials, who are the closest state representatives to our nation, will continue to serve our cities and our esteemed nation with the same determination, using their knowledge, experience, and expertise. I wish our decree to be auspicious and beneficial for our civil administration officials, their valuable families, the cities where they will serve, and our esteemed nation. May Allah grant them success in these important duties they have undertaken."
