A new decision has been made regarding Bedirhan Şener, the son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, who killed his grandmother at gunpoint in Ankara. It has been announced that Şener's observation period at Bilkent City Hospital High Security Forensic Psychiatry Hospital has been extended by 3 weeks.
Bedirhan Şener, the son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, had taken his grandmother Leyla Çetiner hostage with a gun after a dispute that occurred on July 31st in Ankara. Upon this, Abdüllatif Şener reported the situation to the police, and as a result, a large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
SHOT HIS GRANDMOTHER WITH A GUN, KILLING HER
It was revealed that Bedirhan Şener had shot and killed his grandmother Çetiner during this time. While Şener was taken into custody by the police, Çetiner, who was transported to a private hospital by ambulance, unfortunately lost her life despite all interventions. Bedirhan Şener, on the other hand, was subjected to judicial control and a travel ban.
REFERRED TO A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL
Bedirhan Şener, who was stated to be mentally unstable and underwent a forensic medical examination in the detention center, was referred to Bilkent City Hospital High Security Forensic Psychiatry Hospital for a period of 3 weeks of supervision.
OBSERVATION PERIOD EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 3 WEEKS
The hospital, which completed the observation period today, reported that Şener's follow-up and treatment should continue in order to prepare a definitive opinion report. Evaluating the request, Ankara 2nd Criminal Peace Court decided to extend Şener's observation period for another 3 weeks in order to determine whether he is mentally ill and the impact of his behavior.
