BEACH IMAGES SPARKED OUTRAGE
The incident occurred on July 3rd at a beach in Seferihisar's Mersinalanı neighborhood. According to allegations, during an argument over lounger usage, I.A. insulted the veiled mother and daughter. The images captured on a mobile phone camera showed I.A. shouting insults at the mother and daughter, saying 'Get out of here' and 'Who do you think you are,' then grabbing a chair and throwing it violently to the ground. The images spread on social media caused public outrage.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED ON 'HATE AND DISCRIMINATION' CHARGES
Following the images, the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation. Detained I.A. was processed under Article 122 of the Turkish Penal Code for the crime of 'hate and discrimination.' The prosecutor's office requested the suspect's arrest and referred him to court.
INITIALLY RELEASED, THEN ARREST WARRANT ISSUED
