The Istanbul Governorship announced that heavy-tonnage vehicles, which were banned from traffic due to adverse weather conditions in the city, will be allowed back on the roads today at 4:00 PM, while couriers will be able to resume traffic starting tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
The Istanbul Governorship has stated that rain and mixed rain and snow will continue across the city, warning citizens about the risks of icing and frost events.
SNOW WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN HIGHER AREAS
According to the evaluations of the General Directorate of Meteorology, intermittent rain mixed with snow is expected in Istanbul today, while intermittent snowfall is anticipated in higher areas during the evening and night hours.
RAIN MIXED WITH SNOW AND SNOW IS EXPECTED TOMORROW
The statement from the governorship included the following remarks regarding Tuesday, January 20:
"On Tuesday, January 20, the weather is expected to be partly very cloudy, with intermittent rain in the early hours of the morning, and rain mixed with snow in the higher areas. The lowest temperature is expected to be 3 degrees, and the highest temperature is expected to be 7 degrees."
TEMPERATURES WILL RISE ON WEDNESDAY
According to the statement, it is predicted that air temperatures, which are currently 3 to 5 degrees below seasonal norms, will start to rise from Wednesday. The wind is expected to blow from the north at a moderate strength, occasionally reaching speeds of 30–60 km/h.
The governorship emphasized that icing and frost are expected throughout the province, calling for caution and preparedness against possible disruptions and adverse conditions in transportation.
MOTORCYCLE COURIER BAN WILL LAST UNTIL 10:00 TOMORROW
The Istanbul Governorship announced that due to snowfall, the entry of heavy vehicles and couriers into traffic is prohibited until further notice. The ban on heavy trucks entering traffic will end today at 16:00, while the ban on couriers will end tomorrow at 10:00.
