Details have emerged regarding the incident in Konya, where a student from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Selçuk University shot the assistant dean and then attempted suicide. It was revealed that the student wanted to meet with the dean to be exempted from certain courses, but when he was unable to do so, he began to shout and cause a scene. The assistant dean, hearing the commotion, called the student into his office to calm him down, at which point the horror unfolded.
Yesterday at around 3:00 PM, horror unfolded on the dean's floor of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Selçuk University in Konya. Bestami Serdar E. (23), a first-year student in the Health Management Department, shot Deputy Dean Dr. Müjdat Yeşildal in the chest with one of the two guns he brought with him. Bestami Serdar E. then attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head with the same gun.

Bestami Serdar E., who graduated from Kocaeli Çayırova Şehit İlhan Kartal Anadolu High School in 2020, was reported to have passed the entrance exam for the Social Work Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Selçuk University in the same year, and after graduating, he took the university entrance exams again and started in the Health Management Department of the same faculty.
HE WANTED TO BE EXEMPT FROM SOME COURSES It was stated that Bestami Serdar E. had previously informed the dean's office that he wanted to be exempt from some common courses that were the same as those in his graduated department, but his request was not accepted. Yesterday, Bestami Serdar E. came to meet with Dean Prof. Dr. Nur Feyzal Kesen regarding the same issue and allegedly waited for about an hour. When he insisted on meeting and wanted to enter the dean's office, the staff tried to prevent Bestami Serdar E. At that moment, a woman present there pressed the KADES application she was using and called for police assistance.

Bestami Serdar E., who entered the office, shot Yeşildal in the chest with one of the two guns he brought with him, and then attempted suicide by pressing the barrel of the same gun to his head.
THERE IS NO X-RAY DEVICE IN THE FACULTY It was noted that there is no X-ray device at the student entrance of the Faculty of Health Sciences, only a turnstile is present. It was learned that Bestami Serdar E. brought two guns and a large number of bullets into the faculty building inside his bag. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
