Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's revelation in a television program that he was the target of an assassination attempt 4-5 years ago has caused a significant stir. Fidan stated that he was poisoned due to heavy arsenic and mercury exposure and underwent a treatment process. New details regarding the assassination attempt have emerged. According to this, the poisoning attempt took place abroad, and Fidan underwent a two-year treatment process.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently made headlines by stating in a live broadcast that he was the target of an assassination attempt 4-5 years ago, saying, "I was given heavy arsenic and mercury. It happened somewhere, and then it came out in the tests."
Fidan, who stated that he had not previously brought up the poisoning incident, said he was revealing his experience for the first time in this program. He remarked, "The poisoning issue was a very serious attempt."
"LET'S NOT GO INTO THOSE DETAILS"
In response to a question about who carried out the assassination attempt against him, Fidan said, "Let's not go into those details. Those are matters outside. There are enemies not only inside but everywhere."
Fidan noted that such attempts have not held him back from taking any steps, stating, "We are here to serve this homeland anyway. They will carry out character assassinations against you, and they will also carry out physical assassinations."

Yahya Bostan, a writer for Yeni Şafak, shared some details in an article regarding the issue. Bostan mentioned that the poisoning attempt is believed to have occurred in a foreign country, stating, "It is thought that the attempt was carried out by administering mercury vapor. He underwent treatment for two years and has survived the danger."

"It appears that this attempt took place in 2020 or 2021. During that period, Turkey was being besieged by an adversarial coalition in the Eastern Mediterranean, Ankara was intervening in Libya, and there was a tough process of fighting terrorism in Syria and Iraq."
