A new development occurred in the investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against suspects including former executives of Galatasaray and Beşiktaş sports clubs. Among the 17 suspects taken into custody and brought to the courthouse, 5 individuals, including former Galatasaray executives, were referred to the court with a request for arrest, while 10 were referred with a request for judicial control. Two of the suspects were released after giving statements to the prosecutor's office.
Of the 17 people detained in the 'Match Fixing' operation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 10 were referred to court with a request for judicial control, and 5 with a request for arrest. It was learned that 2 people were released after their statements.
INCREDIBLE FINDINGS ADDED TO THE FILE
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detections were made within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department regarding the crime of 'Violation of Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports' (Match fixing), carried out by the Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes Investigation Bureau.
Within this scope, betting data covering the years 2020-2026 related to referees, managers, and football players, including those working at major sports clubs like Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, were analyzed. Data was detected indicating that some club managers working in professional leagues affiliated with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) placed bets during their tenure on matches of their own clubs, including outcomes favoring the opposing team, goal bets, and player-based betting options.
DETENTION DECISION FOR 19 SUSPECTS
As a result of examining the financial data obtained by MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board), a detention decision was issued for 19 suspects working at various clubs. A simultaneous operation centered in Istanbul was launched for the 19 suspects as of 06:00 on Friday.
Within the scope of the operation, Ali Sancak from Adana Demirspor A.Ş., Savaş Tatil from Adanaspor A.Ş., Hasan Turan Güven from Altay Sports Club, Barış Orhunbilge from Altınordu Football Club, Kemal Aydın from Balıkesirspor Club and Ünsal Yamaner from Bandırmaspor Club, Tolga Kırgız, Kerem Gürel and Ahmet Akçelik from Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, Hüseyin Gözütok from Bodrum Sports Activities A.Ş., Murat Şabablı, Ali Şen, Halil İbrahim Yavaş and Ali Gürsoy from Boluspor Club, Avni Akdemir from Erzurumspor Football Club, Maruf Güneş from Galatasaray A.Ş., Özgür Durşen and Sezgin Özkan from Gençlerbirliği Sports Club, and Ömer Çetin from Karaman Football Club were detained.
REQUEST FOR ARREST FOR 5, HOUSE ARREST FOR 4
The prosecutor's office procedures were completed for the individuals referred to the Istanbul Courthouse this morning. Accordingly, Tolga Kırgız, Kerem Gürel, Ünsal Yamaner, Savaş Tatil, and Özgür Durşen were referred to the duty Criminal Court of Peace with a request for their arrest.
The prosecutor's office requested the implementation of house arrest judicial control for Halil İbrahim Yavaş, Hüseyin Gözütok, Avni Akdemir, and Maruf Güneş.
For Ahmet Akçelik, Ali Gürsoy, Sezgin Özkan, Kemal Aydın, Ömer Çetin, and Barış Orhun Bilge, a travel ban abroad and signature judicial control were requested.
