Two suspects were captured near the border in Edirne in relation to the shooting death of Arif Ismailov, a courier from Kazakhstan, who was killed with a gun in the middle of the street in the Fatih district of Istanbul.

Two suspects wanted in connection with the armed murder of Arif Ismailov, a courier working for a private company in the Fatih district of Istanbul and a citizen of Kazakhstan, were captured in Edirne.

THEY WERE CAPTURED NEAR THE BORDER

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department, the Edirne Gendarmerie Command teams sprang into action upon receiving information that the murder suspects had arrived in Edirne by vehicle.

After no suspects were found in the car stopped at the city entrance, a drone-supported search operation was initiated in the area. Gendarmerie teams captured two individuals, identified as Georgian nationals, who were determined to be attempting to flee abroad, on foot near the border.

After undergoing a health check, the suspects were handed over to the Istanbul Police Department teams for processing. Meanwhile, a judicial investigation was also initiated against the driver of the vehicle in question for "human smuggling and human trafficking" offenses.

Yesterday, around 16:30, an unidentified person fired a weapon at Arif Ismailov, a courier working for a private logistics company, on Zeynep Kamil Street in the Balabanağa neighborhood, and then fled. Ismailov, who was seriously injured, later died in the hospital.
