AFFECTING MORE THAN 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS

While there are 42.2 million residential subscribers across Turkey, it is anticipated that approximately 1.2 million subscribers will be affected by the regulation. Here are 14 questions and answers regarding the regulation:

1- What is the purpose of this application?

To ensure a fairer distribution of the support currently provided to all electricity subscribers and to encourage the efficient use of energy resources.

2- What is the average monthly electricity consumption in residential areas in Turkey?

The average consumption in residences is 200 kilowatt-hours per month.

3- What consumption does the new application cover?

The application covers annual consumption exceeding 5,000 kilowatt-hours and monthly consumption exceeding an average of 417 kilowatt-hours in 2024.

4- What is the current bill amount for 417 kilowatt-hours?

It amounts to 1,047 lira with the current tariff.

5- What is the number of subscribers in Turkey for electricity?

There are 42.2 million residential subscribers in Turkey.

6- What percentage of subscribers will be affected by the new application?

Approximately 1.2 million subscribers, which is about 3% of the total subscribers, will be affected.

7- Will there be any changes for the remaining 97%?

97% of residential subscribers will continue to receive support.

8- What will happen to residential consumers with a consumption below 5,000 kilowatt-hours in 2024?

These consumers will continue to benefit from support as before. Daily consumptions below 8 kilowatt-hours (first tier) will be supported at a rate of 60%, and consumptions above 8 kilowatt-hours (second tier) will be supported at a rate of 40%.

9- How much will the bills of subscribers who will not benefit from state support increase?

According to the current Market Clearing Price (PTF), it will increase by a maximum of 93%.

10- Who will be exempt from this application?

Temporary accommodation centers affiliated with AFAD within the residential subscriber group, facilities used for the provision and distribution of drinking water belonging to village legal entities, drinking water subscriptions for villages that have turned into neighborhoods in metropolitan areas, agricultural irrigation subscriptions, places of worship, cemevis, village service buildings, excluding economic enterprises, association and foundation centers and their branches, families of martyrs and combat/injured veterans, and consumers dependent on devices for health reasons will continue to benefit from state support as before.

11- What is the consumption limit for the new application in industry and commerce?

15,000 kilowatt-hours annually.

12- What percentage of industry and commerce will be affected by the new application?

It is anticipated that approximately 20,000 in the industrial subscriber group and about 565,000 consumers in the Public/Private/Other group will exceed the limit.

13- How much will the bills of those exceeding the consumption limit in industry and commerce increase?

There will be a maximum increase of 11%.

14- How will a subscriber who exceeds the limit benefit from state support when they start consuming below the limit?

If the relevant consumer's consumption in 2025 is below the specified limit, they will start benefiting from the state-supported tariff again in 2026.
